Aunty Mabel’s Seat specialises in the concept of ‘upcycling’, which is the taking of something old and worn out, and transforming it into something exceptional and unique by applying traditional crafts. We apply this environmentally friendly approach to vintage and antique seating, where we source carefully selected pieces and fully refurbish them with new upholstery and fabric.

The dictionary definition of a ‘Rough Diamond’ is ‘One having exceptionally good qualities or the potential for greatness but lacking polish and refinement’. This is how we see each and every piece we select; they all have an inherent beauty but their former glory has faded with time. We see it as our job (and duty!) to breathe life back into these pieces. Once you have fallen in love with your Rough Diamond, and you think it will be the perfect seat for you, we then start the fun bit of choosing the ideal fabric. Our experienced upholsterers will then fully refurbish your chosen piece to produce a unique one-off creation.

All the rough diamonds are destined to eventually be dolled up, but sometimes Rebecca just can’t wait to get her mitts on them. Having created these lovely one-off pieces, you then have the choice of either buying one immediately, or using her designs as inspiration for your own unique creation.
